Class Descriptions Level I No experience necessary Level II Intermediate Level III Advanced
Alphabetical Order (Level) Ashtanga Level I (I, II) A flowing yoga sequence based on the primary series of Ashtanga Yoga as taught by Pattabhi Jois of Mysore India. Level I will explore the sun salutations, a series of yoga postures (asanas) which are repeated several times as a warm up. This leads into standing, seated, and finally closing postures, and the end of class involves deep pranayama breathing and deep relaxation. Ashtanga Level 1 / 2 (II, III) Challenges the Level 2 participant while offering options for the Level 1 participant. Ashtanga Level 2 (III) Flowing yoga asanas based on the primary series of Ashtanga. You will be led through several of the 1st and 2nd sun salutation followed by the full standing sequence and the full seated series of postures. You will also experience the full closing sequence, including backbends and headstands. Be prepared to work hard, breathe, sweat .....and feel alive. Ashtanga Mixed (I, II) An Ashtanga focused class that will incorporate hints of other yoga disciplines. Begin with the primary series sun salutations and experiment with various standing and seated postures each week. This is a great multi level class. Athletic Yoga (I) A multi-level, multi discipline, yoga class designed to help you enhance your athletic performance, no matter what sport you enjoy, in or out of the gym. By balancing all muscle groups in the body you can help increase longevity in your active lifestyle and help decrease the chance of injury. Focus will be on overall conditioning, strength building and flexibility to provide you with a well balanced conditioning routine. Fusion (TM) (I, II) This signature Heavens class is a perfect blend of yoga, pilates and fitness. It is designed to increase flexibility, balance, and strength while experimenting with mindful movement. No previous yoga or pilates experience is necessary. Hatha Flow (II) Hatha Yoga is 'meditation in action' and focuses on the practice of postures and breath control. Hatha Flow allows for creativity and experimentation with different mind-body disciplines, and includes an element of strength and power in the flowing sequences. It blends a variety of challenging postures with unique sequencing and transitions - all embedded with funky world beats. Hatha Flow "A" (II) This Hatha Flow class follows the above description and draws inspiration form the Anusara style of teaching. Anusara is the 'celebration of the heart' and embraces universal principles of alignment, and balanced energetic action in the performance of asanas. Classes may emphasize rotating postures, and offer yoga positions that blend the science of biomechanics and the creative and joyful expression of the heart. Hatha Mixed (II) Hatha mixed is based on the ancient form of movement that promotes balance, strength, flexibility and relaxation through various postures and breathing techniques. This class not only emphasizes but also improves your overall sense of well being. Hot Yoga (II) Hot Yoga consists of a specific set of postures that will be practiced in a the same sequence each class allowing for optimal progression of strength and flexibility. The temperature in the studio is 40 degrees Celsius allowing the body to increase circulation, increasing sweat. Sweating allows the body to ride itself of unwanted waste materials and improves overall circulation. Experience the benefits of this unique and stimulating practice Pilates On The BOSU (I, II) This class takes the movement and principles from Pilates and incorporates them on a BOSU which is half of a fit ball mounted onto a platform, providing an unstable surface. A Heavens designed class that will challenge all participants. Pilates Infused Core (I, II) This class combines the movement and principles from Pilates with traditional core strengthening exercises for a challenging core workout Pilates Infused Yoga (I,II) A unique class which uses movement & principles from Pilates as it's foundation to blend both pilates exercises & yoga postures for a complete mind body experience.
Another Heavens' signature class. Pilates Rx is your prescription to a stronger core, better posture and more efficient movement. You will be paced through a flowing yet challenging workout based on the classical Pilates Mat exercises. Just like Heavens' Strength Rx classes, the Pilates Rx format will stay the same (with options to progress) for 6-8 weeks. Twoonie Yoga (I, II, III) A unique yoga class developed by Alan Mileham. The instructor volunteers their time to teach participants - whether a member or non member - 'pay' a Twoonie ($2) for the class (for non-members there is no other drop in fees). All money raised goes towards a chosen charity. What a great way to spend a little Sunday time. Yoga Groove (I, II, III) A fun, mulit-level, Power Yoga class playing a variety of Hip Hop, Trip Hop, R & B, Soul and Funk music. Yoga Flex (I,II) Just what the body needs.
Lengthen, relax, & loosen all of your muscles, both upper and lower body,
and regain the flexibility you need. Stretching is critical for injury
